the balearic Islands
25th march - 14th june
In September, Alfie Buoy travelled 1,500 miles from Jersey to Ibiza, in time to soak up the island’s 30°C heat and closing beach club parties. Mojitoman jumped aboard preparing “the world’s best mojitos” in Formentera, Captain Greg spearfished white sea bream, mahi mahi, and grouper, and Cambridge prepared everything from ceviche to fillets on the BBQ. Guests were tendered ashore for days of Old Town shopping, and nights of glamorous fun.
With a great appreciation of Ibiza & Formentera, we’ve decided to launch our year into the Balearics, with hopes to explore new territories of Mallorca and Menorca.
the amalfi coast
15th June - 31sT August
After cruising through the Sicilian straits at sunrise and dining beside active volcanos in the Aeolian Islands, an early heatwave and calm seas greeted us as we approached the Italian coastline. Its cliffside harbours - flanked by steep steps, lemon trees and vertiginous houses - amazed us, the produce Cambridge would hop ashore to find never disappointed.
This year, we look forward to spending the summer exploring Corsica, new territory for Alfie Buoy, and returning to the dramatic shoreline and grocers of Amalfi. Fresh lemon sorbet will taste even better in high season.
1st september - winter
Our year of adventure will continue and end around the translucent seabeds, gigantic groupers and secret coves of the Maltese Islands. in 2017, as Alfie Buoy readied itself for winter, the crew found a haven in Malta’s Grand Harbour Marina and a capital of culture in Valletta. The longer we stayed, the more we fell in love - Malta is an ancient island full of charm and surprise and we wouldn’t hibernate anywhere else.
